Kevin Bacon’s Low-Rated Horror Film Now Streaming

Hollow Man, a film that showcases Kevin Bacon’s compelling performance, has become more accessible as it is now available for streaming on Netflix. This 2000 sci-fi-horror movie joins a variety of other titles that will be available on the platform starting from December 1st. Among these are the 1997 film As Good as It Gets, the 2003 comedy Cheaper by the Dozen, and the 2019 adaptation Little Women.

Although the movie received mixed reviews from critics, who gave it a 25% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, it was a massive box office success, earning $190.2 million worldwide. Additionally, it was nominated for an Academy Award in the Best Visual Effects category.

Kevin Bacon, who is 67 years old, stars alongside Elisabeth Shue as Linda, Josh Brolin as Dr. Matt, Kim Dickens as Dr. Sarah, and Greg Grunberg as Carter. In the film, he portrays Sebastian Caine, a mad scientist who develops an invisibility serum for the military and volunteers to be its first human test subject. However, things go wrong when fellow scientists are unable to reverse the effects, leading to his descent into madness and a violent rampage that terrorizes his team.

Bacon is set to appear in the upcoming rom-com The Best You Can, which he stars in alongside his real-life wife Kyra Sedgwick. The film, directed by Michael J. Weithorn, premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in June. Bacon also appeared in Prime Video’s action-horror series The Bondsman, which was released earlier this year. In the show, he plays a bounty hunter who returns from the dead and works for the devil hunting demons. Created by Grainger David, The Bondsman has received critical acclaim with an 84% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Last year, Bacon told Vanity Fair that he wanted a break from his high-profile lifestyle, so he had his makeup artist create a prosthetic disguise to avoid recognition in public. He explained that after wearing the disguise, he missed the attention he used to receive.

He said, “People were kind of pushing past me, not being nice. Nobody said, ‘I love you.’ I had to wait in line to, I don’t know, buy a f–king coffee or whatever. I was like, This sucks. I want to go back to being famous.”

Bacon also credited his parents for his success as an actor. He said, “In terms of giving credit to my parents, and of course I give all the credit to them, my mother was very much on the artistic side and really encouraged acting.”
