Netflix to drop beloved Friends by year’s end

Netflix is known for constantly updating its library with new content, but the service also regularly removes titles from its catalog. This practice has sparked frustration among fans in both the UK and the US, particularly as some beloved shows are being taken down due to expired licensing agreements.

Two of the most notable departures are the classic sitcom Friends and the long-running series Supernatural. Both shows have been incredibly popular on Netflix, with high streaming numbers and a large following. However, their time on the platform is coming to an end.

Friends, which first joined Netflix in 2018, will be removed from the UK catalog on 30 December. In the US, fans have just two weeks left to watch Supernatural, which will be taken down on 18 December after 13 years on the service. The removal of these shows has caused significant disappointment among viewers who have grown attached to them over the years.

Another show set to leave during the holiday season is Parenthood, often described as “the greatest family drama of all time.” It will be taken off the platform exactly one year after it was added, marking the end of its run on Netflix.

In addition to TV shows, several films are also leaving the platform in December 2025. These include the Austin Powers series, Beverly Hills Cop, and the Matrix franchise. One film that has recently gained popularity is 28 Weeks Later, which will also be removed after a successful stint on the service earlier this year.
